Further training to become an experiential educator as an OUTWARD BOUND trainee
We are expanding our team of trainers as part of our internal experiential education program
OUTWARD BOUND Germany is one of the leading providers of experiential education programs and part of the international network of OUTWARD BOUND International. Our main locations are located in Schwangau and Baad, and we also offer mobile courses in central and northern Germany.
As part of our internal experiential education training, we are once again offering a remunerated, multi-month internal OUTWARD BOUND training to become an experiential educator. During the trainee training, you will learn to plan, moderate and implement experiential education programmes independently. You will develop both professional sports skills – for example in the following areas:
- Cooperative team tasks
- High rope elements
- Top rope climbing on the rock, tree and wall
- Hiking
- Canoe and water elements
- Cycling
- Cross-country skiing
- Skiing
- Snowshoeing
as well as pedagogical skills, including:
- Ability to reflect: to be able to reflect on and adapt one’s own actions and decisions
- Understanding of the profession: the development of a professional trainer that corresponds to the experiential education activity
- Group dynamics: Recognizing and controlling group processes and using them specifically for learning and team experiences
- Communication: speaking clearly and appreciatively, actively listening, giving feedback and resolving conflicts constructively
In addition, the training will support you in your personal development: you will learn to take responsibility, lead groups and design pedagogical processes in a targeted manner.
After completing the training, you will be qualified to work with different target groups and actively shape the typical OUTWARD BOUND experience.

Beginning/mid-March to the end of November
Compensation:
Depending on health insurance approx. 290,00 Euro/month
Other info:
Applications can be submitted until the end of January. The further training places will be allocated as early as August of the previous year.
The further training to become an OUTWARD BOUND experiential educator is confirmed by means of a corresponding certificate.
If required and desired, accommodation and meals can be provided at our locations in Baad and Schwangau.

The market value of training as an experiential education trainer with other providers varies from €5,500 to €10,000.
Where do I live?
If necessary, you can live free of charge on the grounds of the OUTWARD BOUND locations in Baad and Schwangau.
How do I care for myself?
During the course hours you are catered for. In the course-free time after arrangement.
What other costs will I incur?
Bus/train travel costs for the free/holiday period. Cost of equipment and outdoor clothing. If you want to buy certain foods yourself, etc.
How many vacation days do I have?
You have a vacation entitlement of 2 days per month.
How will I be guided as a mayor trainee?
The first contact person in the practical phase is the program manager or a contact person designated by the program managers. The second contact person is the trained and experienced trainers who are directly involved in the course or in the parallel course.
What does the certificate that is issued at the end do for me?
With the certificate, it is possible to work at OUTWARD BOUND as a trainer for school groups as a freelance trainer. It is also proof of having completed an experiential education course with the most renowned experiential education provider in the world. With the degree you can then, for example. also have your training certified by be (Bundesverband Individual- und Erlebnispädagogik).
